Founded in 1984 by Frances Aulston, a former research librarian of The Free Library of Philadelphia, community leader, and activist, the WPCA was formed to stimulate community participation in the arts by cultivating an interest in, understanding of, and appreciation for the arts in the greater Philadelphia region. Located at 4949 Walnut Street in the heart of West Philadelphia, WPCA is recognized as a leading arts and culture organization in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. Its core programs include arts in education, exhibitions, concerts and the administration of The Paul Robeson House and Library.
